NORTHERN MONK FUNDRAISES FOR ACTION AGAINST HUNGER WITH LAUNCH OF LIMITED-EDITION UKRAINIAN BEER

Northern Monk, has collaborated with leading Ukrainian chef Olia Hercules, to create a plum and buckwheat beer, in association with Action Against Hunger.

The international development charity, which has twenty years of experience working with the food and hospitality industry, is responding to the conflict in Ukraine by providing hot meals and psychosocial support both in the country and along its borders.

The limited-edition beer which celebrates Ukraine’s culinary culture, will be on sale in participating outlets, including the Northern Monk webshop, from Wednesday 31st August for a 4-week period.

100% of the profits from the sale of the beer will go to Action Against Hunger’s response in Ukraine, to help victims of the devastating conflict.

Russell Bisset, Northern Monk Co-Founder said: The continued conflict in Ukraine is still devastating the country and the Ukrainian people and we want to do all we can to support those in need. The beer itself celebrates the country’s culinary culture and raises funds for vital work helping those impacted by the war. It was great to work with Olia and also get the beautiful can artwork from Nastya Malkina. It’s an honour to support Action Against Hunger as they strive to help families fleeing the war.”

Hannah Sanders, Head of Partnerships at Action Against Hunger UK said: “We are so thrilled to have the support of Northern Monk and Olia Hercules with this tasty and compassionate collaboration. It costs Action Against Hunger just £1 to provide a fleeing family with a hot meal on the border of Ukraine, so this partnership will offer a much-needed lifeline to all those making their onward journey. Thanks to the generosity of Northern Monk, our teams in Ukraine, Poland, Romania and Moldova can continue to help the thousands of children and families affected by this continuing conflict.”

In 2022, a UN report announced that 828 million people globally don’t have enough food to eat. That’s almost 10% of the world’s population.

This is why Action Against Hunger is working to stop life-threatening hunger in its tracks. The organisation trains parents and healthcare workers to spot the signs of hunger and get life-saving care to people who need it. Action Against Hunger’s research drives forward understanding of how to predict, prevent and treat life-threatening hunger. With unbeatable knowledge and unstoppable determination, the charity supported more than 26 million people across 51 countries in 2021.
