BREWER
Reports to: Shift Lead Brewer
Location: Leeds
Hours: 35.5 per week, over 4 shifts with 1 block of 5 shifts per calendar month.
Shift Pattern: 4 days on, 4 days off – rotating every 2 blocks between early and late. Early is 5am–3pm, late is 12pm–10pm, with the fifth day per calendar block worked with the opposing shift. This role includes evening, weekend and bank holiday working.
Salary: £26,700 to £32,200 per annum

THE ROLE
Northern Monk is focussed on delivering the highest level of quality and consistency across the entire business. We are looking for someone who is passionate about beer and the industry, knows the importance of attention to detail, is well-organised and comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment.
The right candidate would also be comfortable with production and shift work, be comfortable with manual handling and have strong interpersonal and communication skills, as you will be working closely with all other teams at Northern Monk, especially the packaging and warehouse teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain high standards of health and safety.
- Meet production department targets including Hygiene and Quality Standards, Achievement vs Plan and Monthly Audit.
- Production of wort.
- Cellar tasks including dry-hopping, centrifuging, transfers, tank cleans etc.
- Maintain a high standard of data logging and record keeping.
- Work to a production schedule to ensure that the beer can be released in line with business needs.
- Work in a way which minimises wastage and excess cost without compromising product quality.
- Seek out educational opportunities; read professional publications; maintain personal networks; participate in professional organisations; and keep up to date on relevant changes to legislation.
- Feed relevant information back to Managers and support improvements that will make our beer and beer experiences better.
- Attend and contribute to team meetings when required and encourage best practice with colleagues.
- Represent Northern Monk at exhibitions and events.
ABOUT YOU
- 1 year’s brewing experience.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and growing environment.
- Comfortable with shift work and the shift pattern mentioned above.
- Understanding of the industry and production brewing.
- Effective communicator.
- Comfortable with manual handling.
- Passionate and excited about delivering exceptional quality products.
- Able to work confidently both in a team and independently.
