THE ROLE:
At Northern Monk, we are on a mission to create drink experiences that delight, unite, and do right. We’re looking for a passionate and values-driven Community Development Manager to embody our ethos of inclusivity, humility, and community spirit by building stronger connections with our audiences.
In this pivotal role, you will lead the charge on our social impact initiatives, maintain strong relationships with our 4,000 crowdfunding investors, and craft an engaging digital presence that stays true to our purpose: to inspire others to join us in leaving the world a little better than we found it, delighting people with drink experiences.
This role requires a creative thinker, an exceptional communicator, and a strategic community builder with a track record of driving meaningful engagement both online and offline.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Community Building & Development
• Foster Northern Monk’s mission of creating spaces where people feel part of something bigger, connecting with communities at a local, national, and global level.
• Develop and implement programmes that give back to the planet, support grassroots initiatives, and celebrate the people and places at the heart of our beer.
• Collaborate with charitable partners, community groups, and our patrons to amplify the impact of the Faith in Futures Foundation.
• Organise and lead community-focused events and initiatives with our social impact partners to deepen our engagement and connection with these organisations.
2. 2. Social Impact Leadership
• Drive the growth of our Faith in Futures social impact programme, ensuring its initiatives align with Northern Monk’s purpose and deliver tangible social and community benefits.
• Identify, design, and execute projects that address key social challenges while staying true to Northern Monk’s core values.
• Deliver transparent, meaningful reports on the progress of our social impact work to the wider community, showcasing the difference we’re making together.
3. Crowdfunding Investor Communications
• Act as the key point of contact for our 4,000 crowdfunding investors, ensuring they feel connected to the heart of Northern Monk.
• Deliver regular, engaging updates on company performance, new initiatives, and exciting milestones, building loyalty and trust.
• Organise exclusive investor perks, events, and updates to celebrate their role in our shared journey.
4. Social Media Strategy & Communications
• Be the voice of Northern Monk online, sharing stories of our beers, our team, our projects, and our community.
• Build and execute a social media strategy that celebrates Northern Monk’s mission and values across platforms like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, and emerging channels.
• Create high-quality content that resonates with our audience – from beer releases to behind-the-scenes glimpses at the brewery.
• Support Northern Monk's on-trade, off-trade and direct-to-consumer sales channels through a social media strategy that champions our products, but stays true to our purpose.
• Highlight the incredible work of the Faith in Futures Foundation, patrons, and the wider Northern Monk community, bringing their stories to life.
• Respond to messages, comments, and queries with warmth, humility, and a touch of Northern Monk personality, creating genuine two-way dialogue with our followers.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external creators to source authentic, engaging content that champions the Northern Monk community.
• Stay ahead of trends and continuously experiment with new ideas to keep Northern Monk’s online presence fresh and spirited.
• Play an advisory role with our Northern Monk venue teams, providing guidance on social media strategy and activity to drive footfall to, and engagement with, sites.
5. Proactive Brand Storytelling
• Turn Northern Monk’s values and initiatives into compelling narratives that connect with our community and inspire action.
• Bring to life the stories behind our beer, our people, and the partnerships that make us unique.
• Support with content writing across different channels as required.
• Represent Northern Monk’s ethos of inclusivity, humility, and community in every piece of content, every event, and every interaction.

• Set clear KPIs for social media, community engagement, and social impact initiatives, reporting regularly on progress.
• Use analytics tools to track platform growth, audience sentiment, and campaign performance, providing insights to inform future strategies.
