DRINKS AT THE NORTHERN MARKET

The bar pours fresh Northern Monk beer across a mix of keg and cask lines, from hazy pale ales and hop-forward IPAs to crisp lagers and dark beers alongside new releases fresh from the brewery.

You can expect to find Northern Monk favourites including Faith and A Little Faith alongside a rotating pour of Eternal or Beyond. Our house lager is Ayinger Helles lager, and we have a stout and cider always available on tap. There is also a changing selection of gluten-free and fruit beers.

You’ll also find a fully stocked can fridge, low- and no-alcohol beers, frozen cocktails, wine and spirits for those after something other than a pint.

Looking for room hire in Leeds city centre? We have three bookable spaces: the Lounge, the Speakeasy and the Cinema.

From birthday parties and pre-wedding drinks to corporate events, screenings and larger group bookings, each space offers something a little different.

  • Lounge - 18 to 25 capacity

    The Lounge is a raised area set back from the main bar, offering a view of the entire venue. This exclusive space is perfect for hosting casual birthday parties, celebrating special occasions or simply enjoying a night out in Leeds with friends. 

  • Speakeasy - 30 to 50 capacity

    The Speakeasy is an ideal space for intimate gatherings, corporate events in Leeds centre or wedding celebrations. This private room offers direct access to your own section of the bar, providing convenience while maintaining exclusivity for you and your guests.

  • Cinema - 18 to 30 capacity

    The Cinema is our largest private space, perfect for a variety of events. Equipped with AV technology, it’s ideal for your Leeds business meetings, film screenings or parties with friends. Whether you’re presenting to colleagues, enjoying a movie night or hosting a lively celebration, the Cinema Room is a great fit.

WHERE TO FIND US IN LEEDS

The Northern Market is on Great George Street in the heart of Leeds city centre, close to Leeds Town Hall, Millennium Square and the city’s main shopping streets.

Surrounded by shops, restaurants and bars in Leeds city centre, it is an easy meeting point for lunch, after-work drinks or a few pints before an event.

The venue is around a 10-minute walk from Leeds train station, with the main entrance on Great George Street and an accessible entrance with a platform lift on Alexander Street.

ACCESSIBILITY

GUESTS WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES AND WHEELCHAIR USERS

- There is a staircase at the front entrance to the venue on Great George Street; and
there is an accessible entrance with a platform lift via the rear entrance on
Alexander Street. There is an automatic door open button on the left-hand side
of the door which can be operated by a single wheelchair user. Alexander Street
is cobbled.

- There is level access throughout the venue except for seating in the Cinema
Room, and a raised decking at one end of the venue.

- The floor is Yorkshire Stone flags, they are level but not smooth.

- There is a mixture of stools, benches and chairs, and tables at various
heights. Stools and benches are moveable.

- The bar and food service counters are 1.2 metres tall

- There are segregated toilets and an accessible toilet towards the back of the
venue.

DEAF AND HEARING IMPAIRED VISITORS

There is no Hearing Induction Loop Available.

Can I book a table?

Yes. You can book a table online, although we also keep plenty of space available for walk-ins. The individual food traders don’t take bookings, and you can order from them whether you have reserved a table or not.

Do you offer private room hire?

Yes. We have three bookable spaces: the Lounge, the Speakeasy and the Cinema. They can accommodate groups of 18 to 50 people, depending on the room and event. Contact the venue directly to enquire.

Are children allowed in the Northern Market?

Yes. Children are allowed in the venue until 9pm.

Do you have baby change facilities?

Yes. We have
changing facilities in our gender-neutral accessible toilet.

Do you accept cash?

No. The Northern Market is a cashless venue.
