The York Refectory is a cosy city centre taproom with 20 taps, including two cask ales. We always have Faith, our flagship hazy pale ale, available on draught. It sits alongside a whole range of our freshest releases, guest beers from local independent breweries, cocktails and hot drinks.

Our 20 taps showcase the freshes Northern Monk beer in York alongside carefully chosen guest pours. 

Faith, A Little Faith and Faith Alcohol Free are always available, with another tap rotating between World Beer Award winners Eternal and Beyond. Alongside these, we have Ayinger Helles as our house lager, and a guest stout and gluten-free beer permanently available. We also have low- and no-alcohol beers, wine and spirits. 

You can take a look at our small but mighty fridge showcasing all the newest releases from Northern Monk and guest beers from all over the world. All our cans available to enjoy in the venue or you can take away, and enjoy a 15% discount.

    The Snug is a cosy semi-private space that works well for birthday parties, after-work drinks and smaller celebrations. 

  • The Tasting Room – 12 to 15 capacity

    Our private Tasting Room gives your group a private exclusive space for drinks, tastings and get-togethers. With its self-serve beer taps and adjoining courtyard space, what more could you need?

  • The Dining Room – 36 to 70 capacity

    The Dining Room is our bright and airy first floor spacewith loads of seats, AV equipment and a small bar set up. It’sa great choice for available for large parties, wedding receptionsand corporate events in the heart of York.

WHERE TO FIND US IN YORK

The York Refectory is on Little Stonegate, close to some of York’s best-known shops and attractions. 

We’re just a three-minute walk from York Minster, tucked just off the bustling Stonegate, home to plenty of bars and shops. We’re just a roughly 15 minute walk from York railway station, the route will take you over the river and past the beautiful Museum Gardens.  

Our central location makes us an easy stop for a drink and some food while shopping, sightseeing or enjoying a night out in York city centre.

  • There is step-free access to the Refectory ground floor. 
  • Gendered toilets are on the first floor, with no lift access to that level. 
  • There is a gender-neutral accessible toilet on the ground floor. 
  • There is a mixture of high and low tables, and a mixture of booth seating, stools, benches and chairs. Much of the seating is easily moved. 

Deaf and hearing-impaired visitors

There is no hearing induction loop available at this venue.

Yes. Well-behaved dogs are always welcome in our York taproom.

Is the York Refectory accessible?

Yes. The main bar and most ground-floor seating areas are step-free, and an accessible toilet is available. See our accessibility information above for full details.

Yes. You can book a table online, although we also keep space available for walk-ins.

Do you offer private room hire?

Yes. The Snug, Tasting Room and Dining Room are available for private hire. Email yrk@northernmonk.com to discuss your booking.

Yes. Children are allowed in the venue until 9pm.
